Who are the Djola?

So you have received your results from African Ancestry and it has placed you with the Djola Family! CONGRATS and WELCOME TO OUR FAMILY!! I am sure the first thing you did was a Google search on our people, but was left with confusion and or frustration. You may have also read the booklet African Ancestry gave to you and still felt it didn't give you enough information to know your story. There is conflicting information about who we really are. The name Djola was given to us by the Mandi. They gave us this name because we will exact our revenge or we will "get back" our stolen loved ones. There are different spellings of the word "Djola" and there are many other people who bare the same name. This causes confusion about our whereabouts in the past.  Through oral histories, DNA studies, historical geography and linguistics I have found who we are and why we in the diaspora are Djola only through the Matrilineal line.
